At Perfectly Seasoned, we believe that chai should be spicy and you should be able to have it with your favorite tea—that’s why we don’t pre-blend our chai spices with tea.
Bring 12oz water to a boil in a small pot and steep 3 tbsp spices for 10 minutes, then add 2 tsp of your favorite tea off-heat (assam, darjeeling, gunpowder green, and rooibos work well here). Steep for the recommended time (usually 3-5 minutes), then strain, sweeten, and add your preferred milk or milk alternative.
This method of preparation extracts the most from the spices without the tea becoming astringent and bitter.
